HMT Empire Windrush landlord at Tilbury Docks in Essex on the 22nd June 1948 and was one of the earliest ships that brought commonwealth immigrants to Britain to help rebuild the country after WW2. It also became the namesake of the 'Windrush Generation' and later the 'Windrush Scandal' as the British government tried to deport many of those that arrived between 1948 and 1972 who could not prove their right to reside.
This date was an important landmark in British history as the significant starting point of modern British multicultural society.
Despite the pandemic there are a number of ways you can remember and celebrate Windrush Day 2020 and all of those that came to the Britain in search of a better life and and to help rebuild a country decimated by war.
Brent Council is celebrating the borough's rich Caribbean heritage
here, with an online exhibition.
Here at Grey & Co we would like to say Thank You to all of the Windrush Generation and there children that have helped serve this country in the National Rail, NHS and London Underground.
